External Inventors

We welcome your ideas!

Husqvarna Group invests significant resources into research & development, so we can lead the industry in innovation and bring our customers the best in forest, garden, and construction products and services. But we also recognize that many great ideas come from individuals, start-ups, and others outside of our company. If you have an invention idea that our customers will love, we’d like to hear from you!

Focus Areas

We are happy to receive invention ideas relating to all aspects of forest, garden, and construction, but we are most interested in those ideas that relate to one or more of the following four strategic focus areas: sustainability, robotics, digital, and battery.

Sustainability
Robotics
Digital
Battery

We are looking for circular innovations and low-carbon solutions.  Does your idea reduce the demand for natural resources?  Does it enhance recyclability? Does it extend product life?

Robotics is a strategic focus of ours.  You may have seen our robotic mowers used in residential lawn care, but did you know we’re innovating with robotics in professional lawn care, demolition, and other areas? Whether your idea is an enhancement to our existing product line or a new autonomous solution within forest, garden, or construction, we are interested in hearing from you.

Data and services will be key to Husqvarna Group in the coming years for better engaging with our customers and optimizing our operations. Do you know how we can better utilize data from our products to provide better service to our customers? Let us know.

More and more of our products are transitioning to battery, and our customers demand products that meet or exceed the capabilities of their petrol counterparts.  Do you have an idea that takes advantage of battery technology to offer functionalities not possible with petrol? Ways to improve efficiency of our battery-powered product line?

1. Intake

Submit your invention idea via our online form.  Once we receive your submission, we will confirm receipt via email and classify it for review by our internal stakeholders.

2. Review

Ideas are sent to the appropriate persons for review based on technology area.  In some technology areas, external ideas are reviewed approximately once per month; thus, there may be some delay depending upon the timing of your submission.  In other technology areas, the review is much faster.  We aim to respond to all submissions within 8 weeks.

3. Response

Once the business has made a decision on your idea, we will inform you.  Please understand that we are unable to provide an explanation for any rejection.

Guidelines

In order to protect your interests and ours, please consider the following guidelines when submitting an idea.  Additional information is also included in the Terms & Conditions linked from the idea submission page.

We review all ideas relating to potential products and services within the forest, garden, and/or construction industries that include a sufficient technical description.  While a granted patent or pending patent application best conveys the sort of information we’d like to see, we are also happy to receive a short description of your idea (and one or two accompanying files), if you have not filed for protection.

Intellectual property rights relating to your submission will remain with you during the evaluation process. You simply grant us a license to use your submission for purposes of evaluation, but we retain no further IP rights to commercialize it.  If we are interested in commercializing your idea, we will discuss ownership separately in the future.

We do not compensate external inventors for making submissions or for our review of those submissions. If we are interested in working with you to acquire rights to your idea, we will discuss compensation (if any) separately in the future.

We cannot promise to keep your idea confidential, so you should not provide information that you wish to be kept confidential.  We prefer to receive publicly available information, such as patent documents, a web site link, YouTube® video link, or public marketing materials.

Husqvarna employs a substantial number of engineers and researchers who are constantly working to improve our existing products and services and to develop new products and services for our customers. Therefore, it is possible that an idea similar to yours has already been or is already being considered by Husqvarna and may already be in development.
