Husqvarna Group’s pioneer move – invests in fully electric truck

Electrification is changing society and is essential for the transition to a low-carbon economy and resource-smart solutions. Our company’s ambition to lead our industry in this change is realized across the organization through innovation and collaboration. Now, our first electronic truck has made its maiden voyage.

Every day, trucks go between the Husqvarna factory in Huskvarna and the logistics centers in nearby Torsvik and Stigamo. Products and spare parts circulate to eventually end up with customers and consumers around the world.

To keep the logistics efficient and the emissions as low as possible, Husqvarna Group has now invested in a full-size truck that runs 100% on electricity. This is one of the first fully electric trucks in Sweden, reducing CO2 emissions from our value chain and lowering noise levels from our transports.

“We aim to lead our industry in the electrification transition, and we want to be pioneers in how we operate. Investing in this electric truck is one way to chase emissions along the whole value chain. Being one of the first in Sweden gives us a head-start in gathering knowledge on how we efficiently can mitigate our emissions from transports”, says Mats Johansson VP Operations Excellence & Logistics.

According to an LCA analysis provided by our logistics partner DHL, a truck that runs on electricity will reduce transport emissions by up to 80%, compared to a conventional diesel truck.

“The environmental aspect is important, but we are also curious about technology development. The whole company is on an electrification journey and exploring new areas to shift from fossil fuels to electricity makes us better positioned for future decisions”, says Mats Johansson.
