Revolutionizing robotic mowing through centimeter precision – meet the winner of the Henric Andersson Excellence Award 2025

At Husqvarna Group, innovation thrives where curiosity meets collaboration. The Henric Andersson Excellence Award honors the spirit of groundbreaking innovation that drives progress and creates lasting value.

Team EPOS

This year’s award goes to the EPOS Space Project Team, who have transformed robotic mowing by eliminating the need for local hardware — introducing a cloud-based satellite precision system that makes setup simpler, faster, and more sustainable.

“We wanted to make installation as easy as taking the mower out of the box and switching it on and start to define the virtual boundaries in an instant,” says Johan Rogö, Product Manager for Robotic Mowers and one of the team members behind the project.

From challenge to innovation

To make wire-free robotic mowing even more convenient, the team explored new ways to deliver real-time positioning data directly from the cloud. Partnering with satellite service providers, they created a system where every mower can receive its positioning data via the network — accurate, efficient, and free from additional hardware.

During the project, intense solar storms disrupted satellite signals and threatened to delay the launch. But instead of giving up, the team doubled down.

hat’s really where the strength of the team showed,” Johan recalls. “Everyone came together to do the testing, and redesign where needed and we made it happen despite the setbacks.”

Since its launch in early 2025, the solution has achieved over 99.9% uptime, serving tens of thousands of users across Europe while reducing both production and environmental costs.

Collaboration at its best

The project united experts from product management, software, backend systems, sourcing, testing, and design — a true example of cross-functional collaboration.

No single discipline could have done this alone,” Johan says. “It took everyone’s expertise and commitment to pull it off.”

Looking Ahead

With EPOS Space 2.0 already underway, the team is expanding to new regions including the U.S., Japan, and Australia, further strengthening the system for the future.

We were the first in our industry to deliver this kind of solution,” Johan says. “It took courage to go first but we believed in the value it would bring to our customers. That’s what makes me proudest of all.”

Congratulations to the EPOS Space Project Team — winners of the Henric Andersson Excellence Award 2025!
Your courage and creativity continue to shape the future of smart, sustainable lawn care.
