From 4,000 to 40,000 – celebrating operational excellence at Husqvarna Group

At Husqvarna Group, innovation and dedication go hand in hand — and our Excellence Awards celebrate exactly that. The awards honor the teams whose creativity, collaboration, and courage turn challenges into progress and ideas into lasting impact.

Recognizing operational excellence

This year’s Operational Excellence Award goes to the Stamping and Tooling team at our Chain & Bar factory in Huskvarna, Sweden, who transformed production performance in a remarkable way.

When the team took over production of guide bars for chainsaws from Sarpsborg, Norway, they faced a challenge. The equipment could only produce 4,000 components before needing maintenance — far below expectations. Rather than accept the situation, the team decided to rethink everything.

Turning challenges into opportunities

They questioned long-standing methods, set new standards, tightened material requirements, and strengthened collaboration across toolmaking, production, and suppliers. The result? The same tools now run up to 40,000 components between maintenance stops — a tenfold improvement, achieved on machines from the 1970s.

“The team was bold enough to question old truths,” says team manager Johanna Wendel. “They dared to think differently and asked why we do things the way we do, instead of just accepting it.”

Their story is a true example of what operational excellence means at Husqvarna Group — using expertise, curiosity, and teamwork to make meaningful, lasting improvements.

Congratulations to our Operational Excellence Award winners!
You remind us that excellence isn’t just an outcome — it’s a mindset that keeps driving us forward.
