Teamwork drives our robotic revolution

Teamwork lies at the heart of our robotic success, with many disciplines playing crucial roles. For three decades of innovation and unwavering dedication, our team has been revolutionizing lawn care with cutting-edge technology.

Our 30-year robotics journey is fueled by a collaborative team of dedicated heroes who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, breathing life into our products. Throughout the years, our robotic lineup has expanded significantly, becoming a cornerstone of our strategy, all thanks to the combined efforts and commitment of our exceptional team. Meet Dennis and Margaretha:

David Plaster, Vice President, Sports & Golf, Husqvarna

What are the critical success factors for our robotics journey? David Plaster

In order for our journey into robotics to be successful in the golf and sports area that I focus on, it will be necessary for our organization to be focused on the key customer needs. We need to develop a deep customer understanding of how and why our robots are used, not only from a machine standpoint, but also from an agronomic decision-making perspective. Being laser-focused on our customers from a complete 360-degree point of view that encompasses how they use the machines, how they want and need to be serviced, who sells to them, and how we build relationships with them that endure. Being bold in our efforts to understand and meet our customer needs also opens the door for more unique machine forms that encompass both low power solutions and high-powered battery solutions will be the key to success.

What motivates you on this journey?

I came to Husqvarna Group because of our robotics solutions. I have a long history in the golf and sport area, and when I saw robotic solutions being realized in the industry, I knew I had to be a part of it. One doesn't often get the chance to help usher in a new era of technology to an industry, and I want my legacy to be that I helped change the landscape of the golf and sport industry to a much-needed autonomous solution. If you look at how golf courses have been maintained, we moved from herd animals grazing to manual labor with a machine to an internal combustion engine pushing a similar style cutting unit to now going completely autonomous and sustainable with battery powered smart machines. That is incredible and that is what is driving me to help Husqvarna Group succeed in this space.

Margaretha Finnstedt, Director of Communications & External Affairs, Husqvarna

Why do you believe our robotics journey is significant in the industry?   Margaretha Finnstedt

To begin with, we and our customers owe a big thanks for the dedicated robotics team that kept pushing despite mountainous thresholds. Without their engagement, Husqvarna Group, and possibly the industry, would be a different company today, and our customers would be short of time and labor. Our team’s sense of responsibility and innovation capacity resulted in establishing very high standards from early on, making the Husqvarna brand an industry forerunner with outstanding reliability, safety and sustainability. Without these high-quality standards, it's not unlikely that the establishment of the robotic mower market would have been severely delayed.

What motivates you on this robotics journey?

It's extremely rewarding to be part of our robotics journey. How often in life will you have the chance to be part of a team that pioneers a new category, discovers new application possibilities to solve customer needs, and makes a positive impact on the planet? What's not to like about that?
