Carbon

We’re growing our business and reducing emissions across our value chain at the same time. Through our carbon target, we’re reducing CO2 emissions across our value chain while, at the same time, we're growing our business. We’re focusing most on innovation for petrol efficiency and low-carbon solutions that we can deliver through robotics and battery technologies. This is simply because the biggest opportunity to lessen our CO2 impact happens when we reduce consumption of fossil fuels as our products are being used.

Carbon target

-10% CO2 emissions intensity reduction across the value chain

Science-based targets

A -33% absolute CO2 intensity reduction from product use by 2035

Science-based targets

“Setting goals that are approved by the Science-based Target Initiative demonstrates that we’re serious and committed to contributing to a low-carbon future.”

Kai Wärn, CEO and President of Husqvarna Group

When it comes to climate change, it’s important to take the long view. Our Science-based target (SBT) will be guiding us over the next fifteen years to cut the CO2 that’s emitted during the use of our products. By 2035, we aim to reduce CO2 by 33 percent compared to what was emitted in 2015, no matter how much we grow our business.

An SBT helps companies stay in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. Through the target, we aim to do our part to keep temperature increases to below 2°C*. Our Sustainovate 2020 reductions target is the first step towards reaching our SBT.

We’re proud that Husqvarna Group was the first Swedish-listed company—and the world’s first forest and garden company—to have its CO2 reduction targets approved by the Science-based Targets Initiative.

Teams

Our aim is to be the employer that everybody wants to work for. We’re creating that workplace by offering opportunities for people of all backgrounds to make the most of their talents. Visionary, effective leaders create that kind of workplace and shape dynamic teams that can make a difference for others and for our company. That’s why our Team Challenge measures how we deliver value to employees, how effective managers are in promoting teamship and sharing insights and how we’re staying true to our business strategy.

Suppliers

We select suppliers that mirror our concern both for the environment and for respecting others and who do business with integrity. Our target pushes us to systematically make sure that our strategic suppliers’ practices reflect our own standards in environmental, safety and human-rights performance, as well as ethics. Supplier evaluations not only help us reduce our risks and increase supply-chain transparency on our impacts. We’re also better able to inspire our suppliers to always improve and find ways to raise the bar on performance together with us.

Our way of tracking safety performance helps us ensure that our brands are the ones people most trust to get the job done. A common way of reporting on incidents with our products helps us reduce risks and take quick action across our company when we find a flaw.

Community

We support inspiring initiatives and provide products that help communities where our customers live and where we work. We want to help protect land and living things. That’s why we support organizations like UNICEF, that are on the front line of conserving water, and initiatives that help protect bio-diversity.

In conversation with city planners across the globe, we’re also exploring how parks can better connect people to nature. And we’re there for communities struck by storms, fires or earthquakes to help them get back on their feet, by supplying relief workers with equipment like chain saws and power cutters.

Community Challenge

Through our product offering and engaged employees, we can make a difference in the communities where our consumers live and where we have a presence. Here are some examples of our approach.
